The Italian MICE industry is meeting in Treviso, in the city’s most renowned congress venues.
The host of the 27th MPI Italia Chapter Convention, taking place on 6-8 July, will be the Best Western Premier BHR Treviso Hotel, one of the largest hotels and convention centres in the city.
Tiziano Simonato, BHR Treviso Hotel’s General Manager, is strongly involved with institutions and trade associations that promote the local area, and he’s a firm believer in Treviso’s tourism (both leisure and business) potential.
He said: “Treviso is in a strategic position: half an hour drive from Venice, and right in the middle of a beautiful and still relatively unknown area. The Province of Treviso is rich: from the iconic and renowned Venetian Villas to the famous Prosecco hills, UNESCO world heritage candidates, this area can satisfy both leisure and business – and obviously MICE – tourists. This is why we are pleased to host the Italian Chapter of the largest international association of meeting professionals.”
The choice of nominating Treviso for MPI Italia Chapter’s Convention was part of a far-sighted destination marketing strategy that aims to increase the appeal of Treviso and its Province. It was desired and implemented by Marca Treviso (the Provincial Tourism Promotion Consortium) and its Convention Bureau, with the patronage of Venice Region Convention Bureau Network.
Gianni Garatti, President of Marca Treviso, said: “The tourism industry in Treviso is evolving. About a decade ago, we started the Convention Bureau and the Film Commission. As ‘Sistema Treviso’, we are committed to promote new tourist products (golf, cycling, weddings), and we work together with local administrations and the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno on more “classic” projects, such as art exhibitions. Since 2011, we have also been operating via our incoming agency, to facilitate and meet the needs of meeting planners, who can find in Marca Treviso Convention Bureau’s network an helpful interlocutor. And then, when in Treviso, we know that their satisfaction will exceed expectations.”
The opening evening of the convention will take place at Park Hotel Villa Fiorita, 4-star superior hotel and convention centre surrounded by a large park in Monastier di Treviso.
Giovanni Cher, owner of the hotel and President of Federalberghi Treviso, said: “In the last few years, we have worked hard to adapt to the demands of today’s tourism. We are happy to host this convention, as it’s a great opportunity for us to introduce Treviso to those who could suggest it and use it as a business event destination. But we hope that MPI members will also choose us for their holidays.”
The 27th MPI Italia Convention will take place from Friday, July 6 until Sunday, July 8, and its program will include training and networking events, as well as visits and tours of the Treviso area. Among the speakers:
– Andrea Zorzi, two-time volleyball world champion, now journalist and trainer.
– Julius Solaris, editor of Event Manager Blog, one of the most renowned and widely read blogs of the meeting industry
– Angeles Moreno, MPI Iberian Chapter President, Chair of the European Advisory Council
